How to Install and Activate Elevated Site Search

Elevated Site Search installs like any standard WordPress plugin. Download the ZIP from the Customer Portal, upload it through your WordPress admin, then activate your license key. There is no free version, and the search box only renders with an active license, so activation is part of the install, not an optional extra.

Step 1: Download the Installation File

Log in to the Customer Portal at elevatedextensions.com/portal/ using the credentials associated with your purchase.

Click View Downloads to navigate to the Downloads page.

You can also navigate directly to the Downloads section from the portal’s top menu.

Download the latest .zip file and save it to your computer.

Step 2: Install the Plugin

Go to Plugins › Add New in your WordPress admin.

Click Upload Plugin at the top of the page.

Click Choose File and select the ZIP you downloaded from the Customer Portal. You can also drag and drop the file directly onto the upload area.

Click Install Now.

Once the installation finishes, click Activate Plugin.

After activation, a new Site Search menu appears under Elevated in your WordPress admin sidebar, and the plugin schedules its first index build automatically.

Step 3: Activate Your License Key

The license unlocks the search box and enables automatic updates. Without an active license, the shortcode and the Breakdance element render nothing for visitors; administrators see a notice asking them to activate the license instead.

Go to Elevated › Site Search › License.

Copy your license key from the purchase confirmation email or from the Customer Portal under your license details.

Paste the key into the field and click Activate.

The page shows License is active together with your plan details when activation succeeds.

Each license activates on a specific number of sites depending on your plan:

Up to 5 SitesUp to 5
Up to 100 SitesUp to 100
All Access PassUnlimited

You can deactivate a license on one site and activate it on another at any time from the License page.

Troubleshooting

The page shows “License is not active” instead of the search box. The search box requires an active license. Go to Elevated › Site Search › License and activate your key; the notice is only visible to administrators, so visitors see no search box until you do.

The upload fails with a file size error. Your host limits upload sizes. Raise upload_max_filesize in your hosting control panel, or install the plugin over FTP by extracting the ZIP into wp-content/plugins/.

Activation says the license is already in use. The key is active on its maximum number of sites. Deactivate it on a site you no longer use from that site’s License page, or from the Customer Portal.
