To enable WooCommerce search by product tag, navigate to Elevated › Product Search › Settings › Advanced Options and expand the Search Scope panel. Toggle Tags to ON, then click Save Settings. The indexer automatically includes product tag names. Customers can then find products by entering tag names in the search form.
Navigate to Elevated › Product Search › Settings.
Look for the Advanced Options section on the left side of the page. Click Advanced Options to expand it.

The Search Scope panel appears at the top of the expanded section.
In the Search Scope panel, locate the Tags toggle.

Toggle Tags to ON.
Click Save Settings at the top of the page.

The indexer automatically rebuilds to include tag data from all products. A success message appears indicating how many products were indexed.
Visit a page on your frontend where the search form is placed.
Type a known product tag into the search input. For example, if you have products tagged Winter Collection, type “winter.”

Confirm that products assigned with that tag appear in the live dropdown results.
Product tags in WooCommerce are a native taxonomy used to label products with descriptive keywords. Unlike categories, which organize products into broad hierarchical groups, tags are non-hierarchical and work best as cross-cutting descriptors. A single product might be tagged Eco-friendly, New Arrival, and Summer all at once.
When you enable the Tags toggle in Search Scope, the indexer extracts all tag names assigned to each product and adds them to the search index. When a customer searches for a word that matches a tag name, Elevated Product Search returns all products associated with that tag.
The search results dropdown displays matching tags as clickable items in a dedicated section. This allows customers to see which tags match their query alongside individual products.
WooCommerce search by product tag works in combination with other enabled fields. If Titles, Categories, and Tags are all enabled, a single search query matches against all three sources. A customer searching Winter will see products with that word in the title, products in a category named Winter, and products tagged Winter.
Product tag search returns no results
If you want WooCommerce search by product tag to return results, confirm the Tags toggle is set to ON in Search Scope and that you clicked Save Settings. Verify the product you are testing has at least one tag assigned in WooCommerce. If you recently enabled the setting, click Force Index Rebuild in the Indexer section and test again.
Search returns tags but not the expected products
The dropdown shows matching product tag names as a separate section. Click the tag name to filter results, or check that the tag is actually assigned to the product in WooCommerce.
Too many results for a tag search
Common product tags such as New or Sale may be applied to many products. Consider using more specific tag names or combining tag search with other enabled fields to narrow relevance.
