Which Instagram Post Types are Supported

Elevated Instagram Feed supports all standard Instagram feed content types, including Single Images, Carousel Posts (slideshows), Videos, and Reels. To help visitors distinguish formats at a glance, the plugin places a small visual indicator icon in the top-right corner of each post thumbnail in your grid.

Grid Visual Indicators (Icons)

To maintain a clean and user-friendly interface, Elevated Instagram Feed displays small, semi-transparent helper icons in the top-right corner of your post thumbnails:

  • Overlapping Cards Icon: Indicates a Carousel Post containing multiple slides.
  • Camera/Video Icon: Indicates a standard Video or vertical Reel post.
  • No Icon: Indicates a standard Single Image post.

These indicators let visitors know which Instagram posts contain interactive multi-slide layouts or video playbacks before clicking them.

Interactive Instagram Carousel and Video Behaviors

The plugin provides customizable behaviors for rich media assets both inside your thumbnail grid and within the lightbox popup window:

1. In-Grid Video and Reel Autoplay

In Step 4 (Post Elements), you can toggle Autoplay Video to ON. When active, video and Reel posts will automatically play and loop silently inside your grid thumbnails as soon as they enter your visitor’s screen. If toggled to OFF, videos display as static image covers until clicked.

2. In-Modal Video Playback

When a user clicks a video or Reel post, and your Post Click Action is configured to Open in Modal, the video file will load inside the lightbox popup window. The lightbox supports video controls, allowing visitors to play and pause the video.

3. In-Modal Carousel Swiping

When a user opens a carousel post in the lightbox popup window, the slideshow becomes fully interactive. Desktop users can click directional arrows to scroll through images and slide videos. Mobile users can use swipe gestures to cycle through the slides.

Unsupported Instagram Content Types

Due to strict data privacy rules and technical limitations on Instagram’s Graph API endpoints, specific content types are not supported by Elevated Instagram Feed:

  • Stories: Standard, 24-hour temporary Stories cannot be pulled or rendered by the plugin.
  • Highlights: Stories highlights pinned to the top of your Instagram profile page are not supported.
  • Live Streams: Active broadcast live streams are not accessible via standard feed API queries and cannot be integrated into your layout.

Troubleshooting Content Display Issues

Instagram Video and Reel posts on WordPress do not autoplay inside my grid

This is typically caused by mobile web browser autoplay restrictions. Modern mobile browsers block video files containing active audio from playing automatically without user interaction. Ensure that your video files are silent or that the Autoplay Video toggle is set to ON inside Step 4, which forces silent playback to comply with mobile browser policies.

Carousel slideshow images are missing inside the lightbox popup

If multi-image slide carousels fail to load inside the modal window, your local cache is out of sync. Navigate to the Settings tab in the plugin admin dashboard and click the red Clear Cache button under the Clear Cached Media configuration setting to force your public pages to rebuild.
