How to Create a New Feed in Elevated Instagram Feed
To create a new Instagram feed in Elevated Instagram Feed, navigate to Elevated › Instagram Feed and click Create New Feed (or use Get Started Here on the Overview page). Work through the 7-step wizard to configure the template, account, filters, post elements, layout, and styles. On the final step, copy the generated shortcode and paste it on any page, post, or widget area where you want the feed to appear.
The new-feed wizard can be started from two places in the Elevated Instagram Feed dashboard.
From the Overview page:
Navigate to Elevated › Instagram Feed. The Overview page opens by default.
Click Get Started Here at the bottom of the page.
From the My Feeds page:
Click the My Feeds tab in the top navigation.
Click the Create New Feed button below the existing feeds list.
Both paths open the same 7-step wizard. The wizard uses a stepper at the top of the page to show progress (Template → Account → Filters → Post Elements → Layout → Styles → Complete), with the Back and Next buttons at the bottom for navigation.
Step 2: Choose a Template
The first step of the wizard lets you select a layout template for the feed. Elevated Instagram Feed offers six templates, organized in three families:
Grid Header: Standard grid with a profile/bio header
Grid Clean: Standard grid, no header
Grid Slider Header: Horizontal slider/carousel with a profile/bio header
Grid Slider Clean: Horizontal slider/carousel, no header
Mosaic Header: Masonry-style mosaic layout with a profile/bio header
Mosaic Clean: Masonry-style mosaic layout, no header
Click a template card to select it. A live preview of the selected template appears on the right side of the screen using posts from your default account.
To use a different account, click Use This Account on the desired card. The live preview on the right reloads with that account’s recent posts.
If you need to connect a new account, click Connect Another Account at the bottom of the panel.
Click Next to move to Step 3.
Step 4: Configure Feed Filters
The third wizard step controls which posts appear in the feed. Three options are available:
Show Posts Containing: You can enter a word or hashtag, and posts that contain the term in their caption are shown. Add multiple terms by clicking the + button. Posts that do not match any term are hidden.
Hide Posts Containing: You can enter a word or hashtag, and posts that contain the term in their caption are hidden. Add multiple terms by clicking the + button.
Maximum Number of Posts: Enter a number to cap the number of posts displayed in the feed. Set to 0 to show all available posts from the connected account.
The live preview on the right updates as you change these settings, so you can see the effect immediately. For a full walkthrough of feed filters, see Show or Hide Posts by Word or Hashtag.
Click Next to move to Step 4.
Step 5: Configure Post Elements
The fourth wizard step controls what appears on each post in the feed and how posts behave when clicked. The available options are:
Image Aspect Ratio: Choose how post images are cropped. The default is 1:1 (Classic), which matches Instagram’s native square format. The other aspect ratio is 4:5 (New), which feels modern.
Post Elements: Toggle each element on or off to control whether it appears on the post in the feed:
Likes Count: Number of likes on the post
Comments Count: Number of comments on the post
Text: Post caption
Autoplay Video: Whether videos in the feed start playing automatically
Post Click Action: Choose what happens when a visitor clicks a post in the feed. The default is Open in Modal, which opens a popup with the full post. The other options are Open in Instagram and None.
Modal Elements: When the click action is Open in Modal, toggle which elements appear in the modal popup:
User: The Instagram username
Follow Button: A button that lets visitors follow the account
Instagram Link: A link to view the post on Instagram
Likes Count: Number of likes
Share: Share button
Text: Post caption
Comments: Comments on the post
Date: The date the post was published
For a full walkthrough of post elements, see Configuring Post Elements. Modal-specific configuration is in Configure Lightbox / Modal Popup.
Click Next to move to Step 5.
Step 6: Configure Layout
The fifth wizard step controls the structural layout of the feed. The available options are:
Column and Rows: Choose how posts are arranged:
Auto: The plugin determines the number of rows and columns, the gap between posts, and the total width of the feed container automatically based on the screen size.
Manual: The plugin lets you manually input the number of columns, rows, the gap between posts, and the width of the feed container for desktop, tablet, and mobile.
If you choose a layout with a header, these other options will appear:
Header: Expand this section to toggle Show Header to ON or OFF. If you toggle it to ON, you can customize what profile details show, such as Show Title, Profile Picture, Full Name, Username, Verified Badge, Posts Count, Followers Count, Following Count, and Follow Button.
Custom Labels: Expand this section to write translation overrides for default system strings such as Title (Latest Posts), Posts (Posts), Followers (Followers), Following (Following), and Follow Button (Follow).
Slider Settings: If you selected a slider template (such as Grid Slider Header or Grid Slider Clean) in the first step of the wizard, this configuration section will appear:
Arrows Control: Toggle ON or OFF to display navigation arrow buttons on the left and right sides of your slider.
Drag Control: Toggle ON or OFF to allow users to click and drag (or swipe on touchscreen devices) to scroll through the slides.
Animation Speed: Adjust the slider to define the transition animation duration (measured in ms).
Autoplay Interval (0 to disable): Enter a duration in milliseconds to automatically advance the slides. Set this value to 0 to disable auto-scrolling.
Load More Button: Toggle this switch to ON to allow visitors to load more posts on click. Toggling this setting to ON expands the following sub-settings:
Button Settings:
Button Text: Edit the text displayed on the load button (default: Load More).
Loading Text: Customize the text shown while the plugin fetches new posts (default: Loading…).
Posts Per Load: Input the number of posts to load on each button click. Set this to 0 to load the same quantity defined in your initial grid layout.
Button Styles:
Background Color: Click the color picker to set the button’s default background color.
Text Color: Click the color picker to set the button’s default font color.
Border Radius: Define the corner roundness of the button (in pixels).
Hover Styles:
Hover Background: Select the background color applied when a user hovers their cursor over the button.
Hover Text Color: Select the text color applied when a user hovers over the button.
Loader:
Show Loader: Toggle ON or OFF to display an animated loading indicator inside the button when retrieving new posts.
Loader Color: Set the color of the animated loading indicator.
The live preview on the right updates as you change these settings. For a full walkthrough of layout settings, see Layout Settings.
Click Next to move to Step 6.
Step 7: Customize Element Styles
The sixth step provides color customization settings for various elements in your feed.
Expand the accordion tabs to configure custom hexadecimal or RGBA colors:
Feed: Define the feed background properties here. You can set a custom Background Color, input numeric Padding (in pixels), input numeric Margin (in pixels), and input numeric Border Radius (in pixels).
Header: Define header panel style. You can set the Background Color, Text Color, Follow Button Color, and Follow Button Text Color.
Post: Define individual thumbnail post designs. You can set custom values for Hover Card Background Color and Hover Card Text Color, and set the border radius (in pixels).
Popup: Define modal popup styling. You can set values for Color Overlay, Background Color, Text Color, Links Color, and Follow Button Color.
Click Next to save configurations and move to the completion page.
Step 8: Complete the Wizard and Copy the Shortcode
The seventh step saves your feed configurations and displays your custom shortcode output.
Once you reach the completion screen, you’ll see a green checkmark confirming that your feed is ready to add to the website:
Feed Title (optional): Type a recognizable identifier name for your feed (e.g., Homepage Instagram Feed) to easily locate it later on your dashboard.
Shortcode: Copy the exact generated code string: [elevated_instagram_feed id=”X”] (where X is the unique numerical ID of your saved feed).
Paste this shortcode into your block layout, text editor, page builder, or widget block areas on any page where you want the live stream to render. For a full walkthrough of shortcode placement, see How to Embed an Instagram Feed on WordPress and Using the Shortcode.
If you forget to copy the shortcode, you can always navigate to Elevated › Instagram Feed › My Feeds: every feed card has its own Copy shortcode button.
Advanced Troubleshooting
Create New Feed button does not respond
The page may not have fully loaded, or the browser tab may be holding a stale session. Refresh the My Feeds page in your browser and try again. If the button still does not respond, check the browser console (F12 › Console) for JavaScript errors and try a different browser.
Shortcode is pasted but the feed does not appear
Confirm the shortcode format is exactly [elevated_instagram_feed id=”X”] with the correct feed ID. Whitespace, line breaks, or missing quotes can break the shortcode. Also, confirm the page or post is published (not in draft), and clear any page-builder cache that may be holding an old version of the page.
Feed is shown, but posts are missing or stale
The feed is connected, and the shortcode is correct, but the connection or cache may need attention. See Clearing Cache and Refreshing Feeds for the full walkthrough.
Need to use a different account than the one selected
Open the feed from the My Feeds page and click Edit, then return to Wizard Step 2 (Account). Click Use This Account on the desired account card. The live preview updates, and the feed switches to the new account. See Managing Multiple Instagram Accounts for full details.
Need to delete the feed entirely
On the My Feeds page, click Delete on the feed card and confirm. The feed and its configuration are removed; any page with the shortcode will no longer display content from that feed.
