Managing Elevated Instagram Feed with Your AI Agent

A connected AI agent can run Elevated Instagram Feed day to day: create and edit feeds, hand you the shortcode for any of them, manage which Instagram accounts are active, refresh or clear the media cache, and handle maintenance like update schedules and orphaned-media cleanup. It cannot log in to Instagram for you, touch licensing, or switch its own access on. This page lists what the agent can do, with prompts you can copy, and explains the confirmation model. If you haven’t connected an agent yet, start with Connect Your AI Agent.

Table of Contents

What Your Agent Can Do

Elevated Instagram Feed exposes 27 operations to connected agents: the same validated, permission-checked operations the admin interface uses.

  • Feeds. List every saved feed with its shortcode, read one in full, create new feeds, change any feed setting, and delete feeds.
  • Accounts. See which Instagram accounts are connected and which is active, switch the active account, prepare the login link for connecting another account, and disconnect an account.
  • Cache. Check how fresh a feed’s cached posts are, refresh one feed or all of them from Instagram, and clear cached data.
  • Maintenance. Read and change the automatic update schedule, manage global settings, clean up orphaned media files, and check for plugin updates.

What Your Agent Cannot Do

  • Log in to Instagram. Authorizing an account is a human action. The agent can prepare the login link and check connection status; the login itself happens in your browser.
  • Licensing. License activation, deactivation, and status are not exposed as abilities.
  • Its own access. The Allow AI agent access toggle is yours. When it is off, every Instagram Feed ability disappears from the agent’s tool list.
  • Installing or removing plugins. Installing Agent Connector is a human action on the AI Agent page.

Managing Feeds

Feeds are the saved configurations you embed with a shortcode. The agent can manage all of them.

Prompt

List my Instagram feeds with their shortcodes.

Powered by WPCodeBox
Prompt

Create a new Instagram feed called Spring Lookbook from my connected account.

Powered by WPCodeBox

A new feed starts from the shipped defaults; the agent only has to say what should differ. Every feed setting the admin interface offers (template, layout, post elements, styling, filters) can be changed afterwards.

Prompt

Change the Spring Lookbook feed to show 9 posts in a grid without captions.

Powered by WPCodeBox
Prompt

Delete the feed called Spring Lookbook.

Powered by WPCodeBox

Deleting a feed removes the feed and its cached rows, and requires explicit confirmation from the agent. Media files already downloaded stay on disk because they can be shared between feeds.

Styling Feeds to Match Your Brand

Everything a feed looks like is part of its settings: the template, the layout (columns, rows, and gaps, each with tablet and mobile values), which post elements show, and the colors and borders of the feed, its header, the posts, the slider arrows, and the popup modal. The agent can change any of it, and updates touch only the keys it sends.

Prompt

Restyle my Spring Lookbook feed to match my brand: white background, dark text, follow button in #E1306C, and rounded corners on the posts.

Powered by WPCodeBox
Prompt

Make the feed a 4-column grid on desktop and 2 columns on mobile, and hide the likes count.

Managing Accounts

The agent manages accounts around the one thing it cannot do: the Instagram login itself.

Prompt

Which Instagram accounts are connected, and which one is active?

Powered by WPCodeBox
Prompt

Prepare a connection link so I can add another Instagram account.

Powered by WPCodeBox

The agent hands you the link; you open it and complete the Instagram login yourself. Afterwards, the agent can confirm the account arrived.

Prompt

Set @yourshop as the active account.

Powered by WPCodeBox

Disconnecting an account removes it together with its stored tokens and requires explicit confirmation. If the removed account was the active one, another remaining account is promoted automatically; feeds still bound to the removed account stop updating.

Managing the Cache

Instagram Feed serves posts from a local cache and downloads media to your site, so pages stay fast and your Instagram API quota stays intact. The agent can inspect and manage that cache.

Prompt

How fresh is the cache for my main Instagram feed?

Powered by WPCodeBox
Prompt

Refresh the Spring Lookbook feed from Instagram.

Powered by WPCodeBox

Refreshing queues a background job and returns immediately; if a refresh is already running, the agent reports the running job instead of starting a second one. Every refresh requires explicit confirmation because it spends your Instagram API quota.

Prompt

Clear the cached posts for the Spring Lookbook feed only.

Powered by WPCodeBox

Clearing one feed’s cache is the scoped, safer option: the feed rebuilds on the next request or scheduled update. The site-wide clear also deletes every downloaded image and video on disk and marks all posts for re-download, which costs quota and bandwidth. Prefer the scoped version.

Schedules and Maintenance

Feeds update automatically on a schedule. The agent can read and change it.

Prompt

How often do my Instagram feeds update automatically, and when is the next run?

Powered by WPCodeBox
Prompt

Set the Instagram feed update interval to every 30 minutes.

Powered by WPCodeBox

For housekeeping, the agent can find media files whose Instagram posts no longer exist locally. Ask for a dry run first: it reports what would be removed without deleting anything.

Prompt

Do a dry run of the orphaned media cleanup and tell me what it would delete.

The Confirmation Model

Seven operations require the agent to state an explicit confirm flag, and a request without it fails validation before anything runs. They fall into two groups:

  • Irreversible: deleting a feed, disconnecting an account, clearing one feed’s cache, clearing the site-wide cache, and deleting orphaned media.
  • Quota-spending: refreshing one feed and refreshing all feeds. These are not destructive, but each one costs Instagram API quota, so the plugin refuses to run them casually.

Everything else is read-only or a reversible write. A well-behaved agent asks you before confirming anything in either group.

Troubleshooting

The agent has no Instagram Feed tools. Check Allow AI agent access on Elevated › Instagram Feed › AI Agent, then ask the agent to refresh its tool list.

Every Instagram Feed call fails with “not found”. Allow AI agent access is switched off. The abilities are unregistered while it is off; switch it on and the tools return.

A feed stopped updating. Ask the agent for the connection status. If the feed is bound to a disconnected account or an account with an unusable token, reconnect that account or bind the feed to a working one.

A prepared connection link expired. Connection links are short-lived. Ask the agent to prepare a fresh one, or to cancel a pending connection you no longer want.
